GENERAL DUTIES: Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

CONTRACT TITLE: Assistant Professor

FLSA: Exempt

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION: The Assistant Professor will teach in bachelor's and master's programs in TESOL and applied linguistics in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Disorders at Queens College.  Please visit www.qc.cuny.edu/LCD for more information about the program and the College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a specialization in ESOL teacher education, with emphasis on testing and assessment, student teacher supervision, and literacy.  They must have earned their doctorate in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Educational Linguistics, or a related field and evidence promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship.  A strong commitment to research is essential.  Experience with urban schools is desirable.

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with qualifications and achievement.
